Summary

There are many types of FRP pultruded profile such as FRP round pipes, FRP square pipes, FRP rectangular pipes, FRP round rods, FRP joist steel and etc. 
The basic composition of FRP pultruded profile is resin and fiber glass which includes fiber cloth, mat and etc. It is made of fiber (including fiber glass, carbon fiber, organic fibers and other metals and non-metallic fibers) as reinforcement materials, with resin (mainly epoxy resin, polyester resin, phenolic resin) as adhesive agent, and other auxiliary materials (mainly mold-releasing agent, curing agent, catalyst, sealing agent, UV light stabilizer, gel coat, etc). 
It has a series of excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength, small gravity, low moisture adsorption, small extension and good insulation. 

Characteristics and performance:

1.Good dimensional stability

Its shape and dimension has very small change under long time and continuous loading, which means its creeping performance is good. Its creeping performance depends on the weight of loading, temperature condition, and time of loading. Under fixed loading and temperature condition, the creeping variable of thermosetting plastic is much smaller than that of thermoplastic plastics. 

2.Good property of high temperature resistance and heat-resistance

After being cured, the thermosetting resin matrix composite materials can't be softened, so the heat-resistance is very stable. Making test with load of 1.86PMa, generally the thermal deformation temperature at 150-260ºC, and fiber reinforded thermosetting plastics belongs to excellent thermal insulation material, its thermal conductivity is 0.35-0.47W/(m.k), which is just 1/100-1/1000 of metal. It can be used as good insulating material and instantaneous high temperature resistant material. Thermal deformation temperature of this material can reach 350 degree so that it can be used as normal temperature and high temperature structural materials. Fiberglass/phenolic is an excellent insulator for rocket and missile engines. 
  
3.Excellent electrical performance

Composite material is a good electrical insulating material. If making mica as its filler, the electrical performance of the product can be more excellent. It can be used to manufacture special parts of arc resistance, voltage resistance, and superior induction. 
Because the composite material has excellent electric properties, and its products have no electrochemical corrosion and stray current corrosion, it can be widely used in manufacturing of instruments, motor and electrical insulation parts. 

4.Excellent performance of corrosion resistance

Resin matrix composite material has different electrochemical corrosion mechanism with ordinary steel, it doesn't conduct electricity, so it has good chemical stability to atmosphere, water, general concentration of acid, alkali, salt and other medium. It has been widely used in manufacture of corrosion resistant products to deal with the medium such as hydrochloric acid, chlorine, sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide, dilute sulphuric acid, sodium hypochlorite which stainless steel can't deal with. 

5.Good surface characteristics

The surface of its composite material seldom has corrosive when it contact with medium, and seldom has scaling, so it is widely used to manufacture liquid pipes. Its pipes have small internal resistance, low friction coefficient, so it can save much power. Since composite materials geneally do not produce metal ions as easily as metals, this is why they are widely used in food and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, the composite material has high friction limit value, and under water lubrication, its friction coefficient is very small, about 0.01-0.03, so it is also an excellent choice material for wear-resisting products.
